Cook pasta according to package directions.
Melt butter in a large skillet. Gradually whisk in cream, Parmesan cheese and black pepper until smooth but not boiling. Mix corn starch and water together; gradually whisk into alfredo sauce.
Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, stirring constantly; boil 1 minute. Drain pasta and toss with sauce. For extra flavor sprinkle with Cajun Seasoning, Smoked Paprika or Chipotle Chile.
